\nHebron\/Al-Khalil Old Town<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Old City of Hebron is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, with a history dating back more than 6,000 years. The old city was built on the ancient Tell Rumeida and continued to develop through various historical periods, including the Islamic era. It is a holy city for the three monotheistic religions and is the fourth holiest Islamic city after Mecca, Medina, and Jerusalem.<\/p>\n

In 2017, “Hebron, the Old City” was inscribed on the World Heritage List and the List of World Heritage in Danger under criteria ii, iv, and vi. The site’s outstanding universal value is reflected in its unique role in the development of architecture, construction technology, arts, urban planning, and cultural landscape through the exchange of human values. The city\u2019s cultural values, influenced by the hospitality and generosity of Prophet Ibrahim, are integral to its identity. The property exemplifies a distinctive architectural and engineering style that is evident in its urban planning and cultural landscape, bearing witness to an important stage in the development of human history.<\/p>\n

The Ibrahimi Mosque is considered one of the most important attributes of the city, contributing to its significant status and making it a major religious and cultural destination. The old city also features many significant attributes, including residential courtyards, markets, inns, shrines, baths, and more.<\/p>\n

The Old City expanded into the valley surrounding the Ibrahimi Mosque. For centuries, religious and spiritual traditions and beliefs have been the basis of the city\u2019s cultural character. Additionally, its location on one of the main trade routes in the region has influenced its development.<\/p>\n
