As one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, it holds profound sacred significance for the three monotheistic religions and is regarded as the most important Palestinian city in terms of cultural, and religious value. <\/p>\n<p>The Old City of Jerusalem and its Walls was inscribed on the World Heritage List in 1981 by Jordan under criteria (ii), (iii), and (vi). In 1982, it was also placed on the List of World Heritage in Danger due to the significant loss of historical authenticity and cultural significance. It stands as a remarkably well-preserved example of ancient Islamic architecture, with its quarters, sacred buildings, streets, and markets reflecting the diverse cultures and religions that have shaped the city. The cultural and religious traditions remain vibrant in Jerusalem today, serving as a living testament to human history. <\/p>\n<p>Archaeological excavations have revealed that the history of Jerusalem spans more than 5,000 years, as evidenced by its numerous historical sites and sacred places, totaling over 220 landmarks. Among these are the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, built in the 4th century AD, one of the holiest Christian sites associated with the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and Al-Haram al-Sharif, constructed in the 7th century AD, which includes significant structures such as the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock, an architectural masterpiece. <\/p>\n<p>Throughout its history, Jerusalem has been known by various names, including Urusalim, Jebus, Aelia Capitolina, Beit Al-Maqdis, and Al-Quds. The city&#8217;s rich history and cultural landmarks provide exceptional testimony to the civilizations that have flourished there, from the Bronze and Iron Ages through the Greek, Roman, Byzantine,
